Birthday Craftiness

Yesterday was Lucas' first birthday party!

To celebrate I made pinwheel decorations for his cupcakes.

They don't spin (so I only get half credit here) but they were pretty darn cute. I used scrapbooking paper cut in 4" squares. Instead of thumbtacks I used a small hole punch and used a decorative brad to hold the pinwheel in place. I hot glued the pinwheel to a 6" lollipop stick I found in the candy-making aisle at Michael's.

I followed these simple directions to make the pinwheel: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Pinwheel

My go-to cupcake recipe is courtesy of Martha Stewart: http://www.marthastewart.com/261906/yellow-buttermilk-cupcakes

As a birthday memento I made this tree collage. Each guest signed a leaf that I will add to the collage.

Lucas wore the "1" jon-jon I made for Eli's first birthday. It has become our tradition that the boys have their picture taken at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens for the birthday.

Here's Eli's first birthday photo in the outfit:

We had a wonderful time celebrating with our friends and family and look forward to the real deal on 4.20!
